the venue

In The Gardens at Bullimah, everything is on site. You can hold your ceremony and reception in one location, which means less coordination is required for you and your guests. The whole day simply flows from morning preparations to ceremony to cocktail hour to the reception. You don’t have to spend extra budget on limousines or cars and there is no need to go off-site, away from your guests, for your photo shoot. Whilst you and your photographer are exploring the magical photographic moments available to you, your guests can be enjoying cocktails on the lawn, playing lawn games or exploring the garden.

your ceremony

Our premier ceremony garden is our iconic and romantic Sunken Garden.

The Sunken Garden is a truly beautiful place to say your vows to the person you love. At various times of day the sun provides rays and halos that photographers delight in. If you prefer to be married at dusk, the garden, steps and arbour are lit to create a magical air. The karri arbour which is built over a limestone stage can be draped in flowers, foliage or fabric of your choice or just left in its raw and beautiful natural state.

The Sunken Garden holds approximately 150 guests

We can also arrange alternate beautiful spaces in our gardens for your ceremony.

pre or post ceremony cocktails

Our venue provides a choice of options for cocktails or drinks.

There are a variety of lawns (our cocktail lawn with umbrellas is a popular choice).

Alternatively you may wish to use one of our courtyards, a pretty corner for a more intimate wedding or inside Potter’s Well, (our gorgeous reception venue) if the weather is not conducive to an outdoor setting.

Our reception venue is called Potter’s Well.

The name stems from the history of the property (see Our History) and it sits on the edge of our ornamental lakes surrounded by a beautiful perennial garden. The venue can accommodate approximately 150 guests – more if the courtyard and decks are utilised. The venue is currently under construction and will be completed by Spring, 2019.

Think polished concrete, natural wood, tall cathedral ceilings and a lot of glass. A neutral but modern aesthetic that can be transformed with your choice of styling for your special day.

The venue has full kitchen facilities for your choice of partnered caterer to use.

A bar, furniture, linen, crockery and cutlery, sound systems and your dance floor, are all provided. We have done the work for you.

All you need to do is to decide on your décor and furnish the settings that will make it your special space for your special day.

There is no need to agonise over an indoor/outdoor decision in The Gardens at Bullimah as we have all contingencies covered. You can have an outdoor or indoor ceremony, an outdoor or indoor reception or a combination that suits your needs. You can utilise the dining spaces of ‘Potter’s Well’ with some guests enjoying an after dinner drink on the deck, looking out over our ornamental lakes, whilst other guests are cutting up the dance floor inside and still others are enjoying the outdoor courtyard. Of course if the weather decides to be inclement then an indoor ceremony is lovely behind large panes of glass beneath a stunning cathedral ceiling within the cosy walls of Potter’s Well. Our professional staff will work closely with you to ensure your wedding day is truly YOUR DAY.

the accommodation

Think contemporary luxe interiors set against a backdrop of stunning natural beauty or perhaps elegant city chic in the heart of the tranquil countryside - that's exactly what our gorgeous accommodation has to offer.

Our onsite wedding suite is a beautiful option that means that you can just walk to your luxuriously appointed rooms after an exhausting and wonderful day. There is no need to hire a taxi or an expensive car. In the double bathroom Ivy Suite, you can relax in the deluxe stand-alone bath (or choose the second bathroom for a shower) before falling into the lavish and very comfortable king-sized bed.

Wake in the morning to the sound of birdsong and a sumptuously prepared breakfast that you will share as the first intimate breakfast as a married couple. Another option is to share your first breakfast with friends and family in either our dining area or as an outdoor BBQ or picnic.

The wedding suite also includes the Cypress Room and the Birch Room, both large and beautifully styled rooms, with spacious ensuite and separate toilet. Each room has access to a courtyard via divine French doors. Your wedding party or family may wish to use the rooms for dressing as well as for overnight accommodation.

A favoured space in the wedding suite is the wedding preparation room where your hair and make-up stylist can work their magic. You can step straight from this room, through the double French doors, down the pathway into the sunken garden and onto the ‘stage’ so you will be as fresh as possible for your big moment.

The gardens

Everything in The Gardens at Bullimah relates back to the gardens.

This is a family garden stretching across approximately twenty five acres (or 10 hectares ) of ex-farm land which has required many, many years of loving work to restore the soil and growing conditions.

Our garden spaces have been beautifully designed by Patrick O’Neil Designs.

Patrick studied Garden Design at the prestigious English Gardening School in Chelsea, under the tutelage of prominent English gardening doyen Rosemary Alexander.

Patrick’s designs in The Gardens at Bullimah fuse timeless materials and classic styling with contemporary approaches to ecological planting design. He keeps a keen eye on the leading international garden design movements, which continue to inform his work at Bullimah.

We offer you the opportunity to be immersed in the natural wonder of plants designed around a built and creative aesthetic that becomes a living breathing piece of art in our environment. There are thousands of photo opportunities and every corner will bring delight to you and your guests.

The true beauty of the Gardens at Bullimah is that they will always be evolving into something else but whatever they are, at any point in time, they will provide a pleasurable experience that we would love to share with you.

Keep an eye on News and Events to find out how you can be involved.
